G.I. BLUES is a small charity, initially set up as a voluntary group in November 2005 to help people affected by "pseudo", that is "chronic gastro-intestinal pseudo-obstruction", sometimes also abbreviated to "GIPO" or "CIPO"

We became a registered charity in February 2006. Our aim to help by providing support and non-medical advice, by producing information and increasing awareness, by providing a forum for people affected by the condition, by raising funds to support research into pseudo, for the benefit of in-patients treated at the specialist paediatric gastro-enterology unit at The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, and for Stevenson House - home-from-home accommodation provided by The Sick Children's Trust for parents who have to travel to be with their child while being treated at the Royal London.

On the following pages we have put together some information about G.I. BLUES and the background to establishing the Trust as well as personal experiences of the effects and impact of "pseudo", personal stories of people with pseudo and of those close to them, as well as comments from leading medical specialists. We have also opened a guest book for you to leave your own comments and opinions, and of course you are able to contact G.I. BLUES either through this website by email enquiry or by post. You can leave a message on our main number, or if you urgently need to talk to someone, you can phone or text our HELPLINE on 07513 681460. This is a mobile number but WE WILL CALL YOU BACK Please do remember that this site is all about people affected by pseudo in some way supporting other people affected by pseudo. G.I. BLUES is unqualified and unable to give medical advice of any kind.

We hope that you find this site informative and we hope that you find the stories inspirational.

Above all we hope this site helps you realise that there are other people affected by pseudo and related conditions and that you are not alone.

You can leave comments in our guestbook by clicking on the "Have Your Say" button on the main menu.

Please do contact us if you need help, information or advice.

Please get in touch if you have a story to tell about how you have been affected by pseudo.

Please let us know if you can help us in any way, for example by becoming a  volunteer for us or by making a  donation to help us develop our support network and services.

Please note that although we have highly-qualified and experienced gastroenterologists on our Board, GI BLUES is not operated on a day-to-day basis by qualified medical professionals. We are therefore unable to give professional medical advice to individual enquirers. Any opinions expressed or suggestions made to enquirers are based on personal experience, not professional medical knowledge.

The photos on this page show two aspects of pseudo-obstruction. At the top of the page, Rosie has recently left hospital after a period of crisis in which she needed weeks of intravenous feeding. The photo at the bottom of the page illustrates massive abdominal distension that can occur rapidly after eating or drinking only minute quantities.

If you would like to make a donation now by credit card or debit card, please click on the "Donate" button at the bottom of the left-hand menu.
